A Message to Parents and Students:
At Franklin Township Middle School West, all students are assigned a counselor based on grade level. Counselors can help students in many different ways such as:
  • discuss issues that could interfere with learning
  • help students toward future goals
  • help create a positive environment for everyone

Students are welcome to see their counselor with any problems or concerns. Students will meet with their counselor at the counselors earliest convenience. If it is an emergency, a student will be seen by a counselor the same day. Students may request to see a school counselor by completing a request form on the iPad in the counseling office.

School Counselors are confidential listeners who can do the following:

Academic Development

  • Supporting students in developing an educational plan for success.
  • Assisting students to become invested in their school success by showing them how school performance relates to career opportunities.
  • Working collaboratively with students, parents, and teachers to identify and remove barriers that may impede student achievement.
  • High Ability Test Coordination
  • Developing Section 504 Alternative Learning Plans

  • Help develop positive attitudes among students towards self, family, peers, and community.
