                                                                   Spring 2016 ISTEP +

July 2016,

Dear Parent or Guardian

Your student’s Spring 2016 ISTEP+ results are now available for you to review through the ISTEP+ Parent Portal. Through the Parent Portal, you will be able to view preliminary results, including your student’s current score and performance level (Pass+, Pass, or Did Not Pass) and written responses to ISTEP+ Part 1 questions for each subject area of your student’s test. After reviewing this information, you may also request that your student’s response to one or more questions from ISTEP+ Part 1 be rescored.

The ISTEP+ Parent Portal can be accessed through August 12, 2016 at https://results.pearsonaccessnext.com/  using a standard web browser.

Please note the following:

  • Claim Codes* are case sensitive. Enter the characters exactly as they are shown.
    • *See Important Note below regarding your child’s Claim Code.
  • Detailed instructions for using the ISTEP+ Parent Portal will be available on the login page.

  • If the performance level for a test is shown as Undetermined, your student’s Part 1 and/or Part 2 test for that subject area may have been incomplete, not taken, missing, or not matched due to an incorrect name, date of birth, or Student Testing Number (STN). In this case, written responses may or may not be available to view.

  • Images taken from braille, large print, or loose-leaf computer-generated documents may show responses to multiple questions. In these cases, only the parts related to each question were used in scoring.

  • Copies of Part 1 questions, scoring rubrics, and sample student papers will be available beginning June 30 on the IDOE web site at: www.doe.in.gov/assessment/istep-grades-3-8. Please review these materials carefully before deciding whether you want to request a rescore for any question.

If a score is shown as Undetermined (UND) and you have reason to believe your student did complete both parts of his or her test, or you have questions about the responses shown for your student, please contact us. Inquiries from schools will be given priority, so we will contact the IDOE and Pearson on your behalf to obtain a response that we can share with you directly.

You may access your child’s CLAIM CODE through Infinite Campus. Each child’s code is specific to him/her. If you have more than one child who took the Spring 2016 ISTEP+, each child will have a different code.

It is hard to believe that we have almost reached the end of the 2015 - 2016 school year.  We are now planning for the next school year.  We know that there are going to be a great number of changes this summer before we start back to school on July 27.  If you know that you are going to have a change of address, phone number, or need to modify the information that you have on file, you can now do it online through Infinite Campus.  In order to access this feature you MUST have signed up for access to the parent portal.  If you follow this link:  http://www.ftcsc.k12.in.us/it/32 you will be directed to the IC page.  Once you have access to the portal, please make sure you read the District Announcement Section.

Parents of current 5th grade students:

Immunizations of meningitis and Tdap are needed for the start of 6th grade.  Please call the doctor now to schedule an appointment prior to the start of school so that your student will have the shots that Indiana requires for middle school.  When you have an appointment date and time, please let the elementary school nurse know so that it can be recorded. Requirements are grade level-based, and not dependent on age of students entering 6th grade.  Call now for the best availability of appointments.

Parents of current high school juniors:

Two doses of meningitis are needed for the start of 12th grade.  Please call your student’s doctor now to schedule an appointment prior to the start of school so that your student will have complete shots as designated by the state of Indiana.  Please call the nurse at 803-8304 to advise her about the date and time of appointment.  Students are expected to have the shots at the beginning of the school year.  Call now for best availability of appointments.

Please follow the links to the immunization charts:

It is amazing what can be found when spending some time on Google.  Most recently we discovered that the official holiday for New Year’s Day in 2017 will be on January 2!  The approved calendar for the 16-17 school year indicated that students in Franklin Township would be returning to school on that day after the winter break.  This new information has caused a shift of days in the calendar.

The link to the calendar shown below will take you to the new version of the calendar with the corrections.  The modification is that students WILL attend school on Friday, December 16.  The teacher work day has been moved to Monday, December 19, 2016.  With this change, students and staff will return to school on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

Reminder that tomorrow is the last day to order a YEARBOOK! There will be very limited quantities for sale when the prepaid/ordered ones are delivered in May. There is no guarantee that your student will get one because of the limited amount for sale at that time. If you need a form you can get one in the front office. #don'tmissoutonthememories

We are so proud to share this fundraising page with our TC families. FLASHLIGHTS is a group of 10 Franklin Township students (grades 4-6) and 2 coaches (Mr. Clayton Moore and Mrs. Mary Nine) from Thompson Crossing Elementary School’s REACH program and Middle School East who said CHALLENGE ACCEPTED in August 2016. Now they have won the township's FIRST EVER invite to the FIRSTLEGO League World Festival in St. Louis, MO this coming April! It is so important these kids receive the appreciation, support, and acknowledgment from YOU - their community! Our goal is to ensure every team member attends the World Festival regardless of cost! Your donation helps ease the financial burden that can be daunting, and even downright impossible for many. Our goal is to raise $10,000 - enough to pay for the entire team’s registration, four day, out-of-state competition, including hotels, meals, and travel. Plus, it would pay for our two beloved teacher-coaches, who have volunteered countless hours to our kids, to attend as well. (**If you wish to make a tax-deductible donation, you may do so by clicking here Thompson Crossing PTC - FLL ) Help spread the word by following our team and their progress on our Facebook page(@FTFlashlights )! These young ladies and gentlemen are the future of our township and we should be PROUD to have them representing us! GO LIGHT UP WORLD FLASHLIGHTS! https://www.gofundme.com/FTFlashlights
