The Franklin Township Community School Corporation Board of Trustees has a new superintendent, Dr. Flora Reichanadter. Dr. Reichanadter became superintendent on August 1, 2012.
Dr. Reichanadter brings 27 years of experience in education. She grew up in a southern suburb of Chicago, Lansing, Illinois. Dr. Reichanadter has a rich history of curriculum and instruction. She was a former teacher, principal and curriculum coordinator in Lake County, Indiana and principal and director of elementary curriculum in Hamilton County. Dr. Reichanadter joined the Franklin Township Community School Corporation in 2011 as assistant superintendent.
“Dr. Reichanadter has always been, and will continue to be a great educational leader for our corporation,” said Scott Veerkamp, president of the Franklin Township Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees. “Her dedication to our students and commitment to quality learning will continue to be a valuable asset to Franklin Township.”
Dr. Reichanadter attended Calumet College of St. Joseph for her undergraduate studies before earning a master of sciences (M.S. in Elementary Education) and a doctor of philosophy (Ph.D. in Education Leadership) from Purdue University.
Active in the education community, Reichanadter has served as a member for CIESC Professional Development, Indiana Curriculum and Instruction Association and the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, among many others. In 2007, Reichanadter was a Fulbright-Hayes Scholar with the U.S. Department of Education traveling overseas to study the Chinese education system.
Dr. Reichanadter and her husband John have two adult children and three dogs. She is an avid collector of historic American Girl Dolls, enjoys time with family and friends, gardening and going camping.
