Franklin Central High School Student Council Representatives participated in the National Youth "Speak Out" Summit sponsored by the National Council on Educating Black Children on January 21st at Pike High School. The event was broadcast by WISH-TV, hosted by Lori Wilson, and streamed live nationally. Such topics as the role of social media, anti-bullying, and decreasing crime in our communities were deliberated upon as the youth had a chance for their voice to be heard. "Speak Out" dynamic participants included Juniors Janay Adkins, Ashley Curry, Jaspreet Dhillon, Bryce Espiritu, and Devin Raters. Student Council would like to thank Dr. Larry Young of Pike High School for coordinating the event and Principal Kevin Koers for inviting us to represent FCHS. We are very proud of our youth! Greetings FTMS West Families, The FTMS West PTO would like to remind you that our next jam is just two weeks away on Wednesday, February 4th after school until 4:30 PM. We are still in great need of volunteers for this event to run smoothly. Volunteers are needed from 2:00-5:00 PM. Volunteer tasks include monitoring the gym, cafeteria, hallways, bathrooms, selling concessions, and we would love a volunteer to take requests and play music. At this time, we have enough volunteers for the lunch pre-sale, so help is needed the day of the Jam only. As a reminder to students attending the Jam, pre-sale tickets will be available at lunch on Friday 1/30, Monday 2/2, and Tuesday 2/3 for $5.00. Students who purchase a pre-sale ticket for $5.00 at lunch will receive entry to the Jam, a snack, bus transportation to the Annex, and admission to the Girls East vs. West basketball game. Students must arrange for transportation home from the Annex as the bus does not return students to West. Students who wish to attend the Jam only may purchase tickets at the doors the day of the Jam for $3.00. Students attending the Jam only require transportation home from West at 4:30. Please contact, me, Jennifer Taylor at jent814@gmail.com or by phone at 317-756-8880, if you are available to volunteer in any way. We understand that life is busy, and not everyone is available during the day. However, if you do have a few hours of time to give, please consider volunteering. After school events allow our students to bond and have fun in a safe environment while creating some wonderful memories of their school years. These events would not be possible without your support. Thank you in advance for your time! Sincerely, Jennifer Taylor FTMS West PTO Student Activities
