CSI: COMMANDERS FOR SAFETY IMPROVEMENT

VISION

All children have a right to a school environment where they feel safe and can learn to the best of their abilities. Franklin Twp Middle School East’s Guidance Department would like to implement a program to increase school safety and enhance academic, personal, social and emotional growth for a successful and productive life.

OBJECTIVE

To help students learn interpersonal skills important for the development of positive behaviors and constructive management through school wide interventions.

PEER CONFLICT

The anatomy of a conflict is usually described as ISSUES, STRATEGIES and OUTCOMES.

ISSUES: Control of the physical or social environment, such as control of objects or physical space.

STRATEGIES: Include physical and verbal tactics that can be both aggressive and nonaggressive.

OUTCOMES:

Unresolved situation (issue is dropped)

Adult – imposed solution

Submission of one peer to another

Mutually agreed on peer solution

GOAL: BULLYING:

To create a school wide positive peer culture that most students will elect to join if given the means and opportunity.

To identify peer conflict between students and help develop strategies and guidance for positive outcomes.

To build students self –esteem in order to create positive relationships and make healthy choices.
