It is hard to believe that we have almost reached the end of the 2015 - 2016 school year.  We are now planning for the next school year.  We know that there are going to be a great number of changes this summer before we start back to school on July 27.  If you know that you are going to have a change of address, phone number, or need to modify the information that you have on file, you can now do it online through Infinite Campus.  In order to access this feature you MUST have signed up for access to the parent portal.  If you follow this link:  http://www.ftcsc.k12.in.us/it/32 you will be directed to the IC page.  Once you have access to the portal, please make sure you read the District Announcement Section.

Thank you for your interest in trying out for the 2017-2018 Basketball Cheer Team at FTMS East. You will be required to attend both of the following dates; On Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 2:30-4:30pm you will learn the cheer, abbreviated dance, and jumps. You will return on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 3-5pm for the actual tryout. We will meet in the cafeteria. Please allow extra time Friday evening as tryouts may last slightly longer than 5pm (depending on the amount of girls that tryout). You will find out that evening if you have made the squad. These tryouts are for winter boys and girls basketball. This can be a truly rewarding experience, but it also requires a tremendous time commitment. A cheer team member must be willing to practice on her own time and work well with others; as cheerleading is a team sport. We generally practice 1-2 days per week and have games 1-2 days per week. I try to keep the commitments to 3 events per week. I do my best to work with girls on other commitments (dance, competitive cheer, student council, etc) but need the girls to be present. As far as cost goes, we will be attending UCA’s cheer stunt camp at Danville High School on November 18th from 1-4pm. It is required. The total cost for cheerleading is $225 for all new cheerleaders, this covers the shell, liner, skirt, shoes, bow, poms and the stunt clinic. All returning cheerleaders will owe the cost of stunt clinic. A parent meeting for new cheerleaders will be Saturday November 4, 2017 with all fees due at that time. This deadline is strict due to uniform ordering. November 1st and 3rd TRYOUTS November 4th PARENT MEETING ($225 DUE) November 7th and 9th practice from 3-5 November 11th practice 9-11 (tentative) November 14th first game at home Coach Ashley Sesslar Ashleykibbey@att.net

Tonight our 8th grade boys took part in the "Just the Guys" concert at Franklin Central. They did a wonderful job representing East. Congratulations to Mrs. Knapp, Mrs. Clifford, and all the boys on their performance tonight!

Shout out to our student council reps who walked Finley around yesterday. These guys showed our visitors what being an East student is all about. They were nothing short of amazing. Great job! Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana

Parents, The rain threw a wrench in our Walkathon plans, but we still had a blast! Our rain plan allowed students to access our gyms, the concession stand, and the Kona Ice truck during lunch. We also capped off our day with a student vs staff dodgeball game! Finley (our Make A Wish recipient) joined us and was definitely soaking in his celebrity status. I am pretty sure he is well aware of what a selfie is now. I am glad our students got to meet Finley so they can see the reason we strive to make a difference in everything we do. If your student has not received raffle tickets or a t-shirt, we are working on it. We had 263 donations come in today alone. Our hope is to have everything wrapped up tomorrow. 100% of the Walkathon money comes back to us! This benefit comes with the drawback of having no outside resources to lean on when pulling the event off. If you have any questions about Walkathon items, Mrs. Miller would be more than happy to help out (amy.miller@ftcsc.k12.in.us). I SAVED THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR LAST. OUR STUDENTS RAISED PLENTY OF MONEY TO SEND FINLEY TO DISNEY! I should have overall totals by the end of the week. Have a wonderful evening!
