Bunker Hill Art Teacher Miss Wuest travels to Haiti every couple of years to volunteer at a school. Each time she goes, she tries to make a connection between Bunker Hill and the school she works with in Haiti. Students took the initiative and are creating individualized coloring books for the students in Haiti. The whole school is behind this incredible project demonstrating their generosity and compassion toward others. Great job Miss Wuest and the Bulldogs!

The Social Studies department at FTMS-EAST is proud to announce our first annual Night of Remembrance, commemorating The American Civil War. The American Civil War could be considered the most tragic episode of our history. A bitter war, fought on our soil, among our own people, it was literally a brother versus brother war. At its conclusion, an estimated 620,000 Americans had lost their lives. Please join us on 5-1-14 in the cafeteria at EAST for this very special evening. The finest projects created by EAST 8th grade students will be on display for parents, students, staff, and the community. The doors will open at 6:00 for the viewing of the student work. Also that evening, guest speaker private Sam Watkins, Company H, 1st Tennessee Volunteer Regiment will join us to share his story of his life in The Army of Tennessee. The presentation by Mr. Watkins will begin at 6:30, followed by a question and answer session with this veteran who participated in every major battle in the Western theatre of the war. The Social Studies department hopes that you make plans to attend this unique and special event for our 8th graders and their families. It will be a remarkable chance to share the efforts of our students and remember the men and women who helped make our nation what it is today.
