Scholarships and Financial Aid

Scholarship Listing in Naviance

The Counseling Office will post all scholarship information that we receive in Naviance.  We encourage all students and parents to utilize the scholarship database that is in Naviance, which is our scholarship and college search program. You can access Naviance at http://connection.naviance.com/fchs.  Students can reset their password at this website, and they can contact their school counselor if they have difficulty with accessing their account.

Students should also look at the scholarship websites of colleges that they have applied to for those colleges’ specific scholarship offerings.  Students can also use scholarship websites that can be found in the following link under “Scholarships and Financial Aid” to search for scholarships:  Web Resources for the College Bound Senior.

Financial Aid Night  The Counseling Office hosted the 2016-2017 Financial Aid Night with a guest speaker from INvestEd College Planning on Wednesday, October 4th.  Here is the presentation that INvestEd College Planning gave that night: INvestEd Financial Aid Night Presentation

Also, here is a link to INvestEd's website, which contains tons of great information on college planning, financial aid, and paying for college:  INvestEdIndiana.org

FAFSA Information

All seniors and their parents should be preparing to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), in order to be eligible for need based financial aid.  This year, the FAFSA is available as of October 1st, and it must be completed by March 10th.  Many colleges have an earlier deadline in order for students to be eligible for all financial aid possibilities.

The website for the FAFSA is www.fafsa.ed.gov.  The FAFSA is required for students to be considered for federal and state grants, loans and scholarships at most colleges, universities and vocational/technical schools nationwide.

College Goal Sunday is a free program that is designed to assist Indiana students seeking undergraduate admission to a college or technical school in filing the FAFSA.  In one afternoon at College Goal Sunday, students and their families can get free help and complete the FAFSA online.  For more information about College Goal Sunday, visit the website at www.collegegoalsunday.org.  This school year, College Goal Sunday will be offered on two separate dates, Sunday, November 13th, 2016 and Sunday, February 12th, 2017.  The closest location for this event will be Beech Grove High School.
