The rebalancing timeline for communication to the subdivisions that will be changing schools (Lakeland Trails, Timberfield, Franklin Parke, and Franklin Trace) was presented to the Board of Education at its regular meeting on Monday, January 12.  This timeline is the roadmap as to when communication and school visitations will occur for those subdivision that are impacted by Step 2 of the rebalancing/redistricting plan. Step 2, already approved by the Board, will be for the 2015 - 16 school years.

Step 3 will be a large movement of students and will most likely impacted much of the school district.  The work and data collection for the the "big one" will begin in the spring of 2015.  This major move is slated for the 2016 - 17 school years. The school district will communicate information via the website, FaceBook, Twitter, local media, and school/district newsletters.

Click here to view the communication timeline for those that will be affected.

To the Franklin Township Community: Due to property tax caps, FTCSC loses more than $18 million each year in funding. In 2010, FTCSC faced a significant budget deficit. During the 2011-2012 school year, transportation was discontinued but was returned beginning the 2012-2013 school year due to debt restructuring. Today the Indiana Supreme Court held that the Indiana Constitution does not mandate school corporations to provide transportation to and from school. This means that although it was a challenging time for our community, it was not unconstitutional. FTCSC HAS NO PLANS in the immediate future to eliminate transportation. School Corporations who wish to eliminate transportation can do so with 3 years notice to the community. FTCSC has not given that notice and there is NO DISCUSSION at this time of such notice. As FTCSC focuses on providing the BEST EDUCATION for our children, we thank the community for their support. Dr. Flora
