Special Education Services

Welcome to the website for the Franklin Township Community School Corporation (FTCSC).  This section of the website pertains to Special Education, where we strive to ensure that each and every student who comes to us is: Prepared for Life’s Possibilities.   If you don’t find what you are looking for on this section of the website, please send an eMail to:  Sharon.Knoth@ftcsc.k12.in.us and give a description of what it was you were attempting to find.  We appreciate any and all feedback you are willing to give regarding this section of the FTCSC website.

The FTCSC provides a full array of special education services for eligible students from the time they turn three (3) years of age through the child’s 21st year of age.

To be eligible for special education services, the student must have an educational evaluation that a case conference committee has discussed and determined the student is eligible for special education services. Once determined eligible, the case conference committee will determine an individualized education program (IEP) with specific goals to be worked on with the student.

Move Ins

A student may move in from anywhere within the state of Indiana and his/her IEP will be implemented as written.  A Move In case conference committee will be convened to discuss the current IEP and determine how it will be implemented within the FTCSC.  A student moving in from out of state will need to have a copy of his/her current IEP and a current educational evaluation.  An interim placement will be made by the student’s case conference committee while the educational evaluation is reviewed by the FTCSC multidisciplinary team.  After the review the student’s parent(s) may be asked to provide consent for additional educational assessments to ensure the student meets eligibility criteria under the state of Indiana’s special education regulations:  Article 7.
