Biography:

Mrs. Flynn has over 35 years of experience in education.  She completed her undergraduate work at IUPUI and her Master of Science degree at Butler University.  Mrs. Flynn has 20+ years of classroom experience, was an instructional coach in an elementary school for 6 years, and is presently the District Instructional Coach for Title I.  Mrs. Flynn has also worked as an instructor for reading methods at the college level and most recently completed her training to be a Gold Star Speaker for Donna Beegle's Communications Across Barriers. During her years in Franklin Township, Mrs. Flynn has deepened her level of knowledge by attending a variety of workshops and seminars including:   SMEKENS Literacy, I Have the Data…Now What, Instructional Leadership, Indiana Council for Teachers of Mathematics, Designing Engaging and Rigorous Lessons, Strategies for Differentiating Reading, Thinking Maps, Small-Group Instruction, DIBELS Super Institute, Title 1 Summit, 95% Group Phonemic Awareness and Phonics, NCTM Interactive Institute for Pre-K-Grade 5 Mathematics, Response to Intervention K-6, and Power Strategies to Boost Reading and Writing Achievement on Standardized Tests.    

Roles and Responsbilities:

As the District Instructional Coach for Title I, Mrs. Flynn collaborates with instructional coaches and leads the Intervention Committee for tier III reading and math. Mrs. Flynn helps determine the professional development needs at the K-5 level and supports the creation of professional development.  Her job includes encouraging student success through weekly emails specific to improving fluency, accuracy, and the engagement of students in poverty.  Mrs. Flynn works with K-5 teachers and coaches on DIBELS and the use of DIBELS data to drive instruction.  Mrs. Flynn also leads the DIBELS SWAT Team.  You can follow her on Facebook and Twiter where she shares tips for parents.  You may contact Mrs. Flynn with any questions regarding instructional coaches, DIBELS, Title I programs, and any intervention programs.
