Beginning January 2015, student midterm reports will be delivered online to parents.  In order to receive your child's midterm report, it will be necessary for you to have a Parent Account (portal) on Infinite Campus. It is easy to do and you can follow the setup procedure by clicking this link:  http://www.ftcsc.k12.in.us/IT/32/.  Having access to the Parent Portal also offers other opportunities.

Information can be accessed on your telephone (apps available in the app stores), your computer, or your tablet.  If you do not have access to a device, please let you school secretary know and they can provide a hard copy to be sent home with your child.

FTCSC will be having the first of two state required evacuation drills starting Monday October 6th, 2014. These drills are designed to help prepare our drivers and the students for the unlikely event of an emergency situation. Please take a moment to discuss the importance of this training with your child and encourage positive participation and teamwork. These drills will be conducted professionally under the schools supervision and will be handled similarly to a fire drill. All students riding will receive verbal and hands on demonstrations of all aspects of emergency situations, equipment, and procedures. Due to safety concerns our specially equipped buses will not be exiting the bus.

A Rebalancing Task Force representing the community, parents, teachers and administrators met throughout the 2013-2014 school year to discuss and provide options to our School Board regarding the growing student populations in our opened facilities. The most immediate concern was the limited space at South Creek Elementary for the 2014-2015 school year. The task force met throughout the year to create a plan that could be acted upon as growth continued. School Board members were provided with 2 options from the task force. From those options, the attached hybrid plan was created.

For 2014-2015, Step 1 was implemented. South Creek is able to accommodate space for 3 kindergarten classrooms. After those classrooms were full, kindergarten classes were opened at Adams Elementary to take additional South Creek students for one year. Some South Creek kindergarten students are currently shuttled to Adams Elementary for this school year.

Step 2 is currently being examined. At their August meeting, the School Board was provided with options to allow more space at South Creek Elementary by redistricting some subdivisions from South Creek to Adams Elementary. The School Board is collecting information in the coming weeks to help guide their decision. Subdivisions that are under consideration are those closest to Adams Elementary. Additional information will be collected for possible considerations to be made at the middle school level. For more information please read the attached Hybrid Plan and the Rebalancing Initiative Step 2 hand out.

Attention Parents: We were recently informed that a magnet was stolen off of daycare vehicle that is used to pick up children from three of our schools.  The daycare owner quickly informed law enforcement and contacted the school district.  We have alerted all of our school to ensure the safety of our students and our police will be taking extra safety precautions.   We alert you to take the same precautions and talk to your children about keeping themselves safe.  You can find a photo of the decal on the district website.

We want YOU to participate in the Veterans’ Day Program Kitley Elementary’s annual Veterans’ Day Program is scheduled for Tuesday, November 11 at 9:30 a.m. and we encourage all members of the Kitley community to participate. There are three ways you can be involved in this special program: Attendance- plan to attend the Veterans’ Day program as a member of the audience. It is especially meaningful to our students and staff when there are special guests in the audience, so please invite all the veterans and active service members you know to our program. Share pictures- students can share recent or “vintage” pictures of the veterans or active service members in their life and these pictures will be used as part of the program. We would especially love to see pictures of the veteran/service member in uniform, as well as pictures that include the student. Please label the picture with the student’s name, the veteran’s/service member’s name and military branch, and email it to michelle.carter@ftcsc.k12.in.us. The deadline for submitting pictures is Wednesday, October 29. Essay contest- students may enter this contest by writing an essay, letter, poem, etc. about a veteran or active service member who is special to them. The winning entries will be read aloud during the program, either by the student or his/her designee. Students should turn their entry into the front office by Wednesday, October 29.
