It is hard to believe that we have almost reached the end of the 2015 - 2016 school year.  We are now planning for the next school year.  We know that there are going to be a great number of changes this summer before we start back to school on July 27.  If you know that you are going to have a change of address, phone number, or need to modify the information that you have on file, you can now do it online through Infinite Campus.  In order to access this feature you MUST have signed up for access to the parent portal.  If you follow this link:  http://www.ftcsc.k12.in.us/it/32 you will be directed to the IC page.  Once you have access to the portal, please make sure you read the District Announcement Section.

The school district has created a survey to help determine the future direction of the school calendars.  The questions on the survey will help guage the attitudes and opinions of our parents, teachers, students, and community.  We hope you will participate.  The link to the survey is:

Parents of current 5th grade students:

Immunizations of meningitis and Tdap are needed for the start of 6th grade.  Please call the doctor now to schedule an appointment prior to the start of school so that your student will have the shots that Indiana requires for middle school.  When you have an appointment date and time, please let the elementary school nurse know so that it can be recorded. Requirements are grade level-based, and not dependent on age of students entering 6th grade.  Call now for the best availability of appointments.

Parents of current high school juniors:

Two doses of meningitis are needed for the start of 12th grade.  Please call your student’s doctor now to schedule an appointment prior to the start of school so that your student will have complete shots as designated by the state of Indiana.  Please call the nurse at 803-8304 to advise her about the date and time of appointment.  Students are expected to have the shots at the beginning of the school year.  Call now for best availability of appointments.

Please follow the links to the immunization charts:

It is amazing what can be found when spending some time on Google.  Most recently we discovered that the official holiday for New Year’s Day in 2017 will be on January 2!  The approved calendar for the 16-17 school year indicated that students in Franklin Township would be returning to school on that day after the winter break.  This new information has caused a shift of days in the calendar.

The link to the calendar shown below will take you to the new version of the calendar with the corrections.  The modification is that students WILL attend school on Friday, December 16.  The teacher work day has been moved to Monday, December 19, 2016.  With this change, students and staff will return to school on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

Over the weekend, our Key Club students installed five Little Free Libraries around the township! They are located at the following places: --Southeastway Park, by the playground (decorated by Kitley's YMCA) --Thompson Park (decorated by Thompson Crossing's art club) --Amber Ridge housing addition, at the corner of Amber Valley Lane and Graybrook Drive (decorated by Bunker HIll's student council) --Moeller Estates housing addition, right outside of the pool/clubhouse, (decorated by Arlington's art club and student council) --Flashes Park, by the picnic tables, (decorated by Adams' art club) The Little Free Library initiative is a move to help promote literacy throughout the township. We received a grant from the Moorehead Foundation, FTEF, and United Way to help fund the project. The libraries are a take-a-book-leave-a-book structure that residents can use throughout the year. Our hope is to expand this next year to include South Creek and Acton. I have attached several pictures of the libraries, including a celebration party that we did with Arlington's student council. Our Key Club members had a book-theme party with them--it included Dr. Seuss Bingo, a bookmark making station, and an area where students could write a collective story. All participants had a great time! We are so proud of our Key Club members and our partnership with our elementary schools!
