District Perception Survey

As part of our effort to develop the district strategic plan, we are asking for input from our students, parents, teachers, and administrators on various aspects of our school district through our perception survey.  We are using this information to help us plan and improve as a school corporation.  We have created separate surveys to target four groups which are found below.  Please select the link for your group (parents, students, teachers, or administrators) to view and complete the survey.  The deadline for completing the survey is December 14, 2016 unless otherwise stated.

It is hard to believe that we have almost reached the end of the 2015 - 2016 school year.  We are now planning for the next school year.  We know that there are going to be a great number of changes this summer before we start back to school on July 27.  If you know that you are going to have a change of address, phone number, or need to modify the information that you have on file, you can now do it online through Infinite Campus.  In order to access this feature you MUST have signed up for access to the parent portal.  If you follow this link:  http://www.ftcsc.k12.in.us/it/32 you will be directed to the IC page.  Once you have access to the portal, please make sure you read the District Announcement Section.

Here are today's announcements (12/2): OBSCENE/ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES – Students are prohibited from engaging in any activity that is considered to be obscene or any activity that is prohibited by local, state or federal law. This includes the use of profanity, obscene language and/or inappropriate gestures. Did you know? Doing acts of kindness reduces anxiety. During four weeks, University of British Columbia researchers assigned people with high levels of anxiety to do kind acts for other people at least six times a week. The researchers found that doing nice things for people led to a significant increase in people's positive moods. It also led to an increase in relationship satisfaction and a decrease in social avoidance in socially anxious individuals. West’s Kindness Challenge Continues! Participate in a random act of kindness towards your fellow students and West staff, then pick up an orange kindness card in the cafeteria and fill it out and turn it in for a chance to win a gift card! Drawings will take place every Friday. Help make West the Best and participate in our kindness challenge! Peer Buddy applications are now available in the front office. Applications are due by Dec. 16th and selections will be made during the spring. Turn in completed applications to the front office. If you are a 7th or 8th-grade girl that is interested in playing basketball for West, the call out meeting was on November 22 in Mr. Kern's room. If you were not available to meet on that date please see Mr. Kern for more information. Tryouts for the team will be on December 6th and 8th, here at West. You will have to have a physical on file to participate in tryouts. If you have any questions please see Mr. Kern. Tryouts for the Flashes Volleyball Club will be December 5-7 (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) from 6:00-8:00 in the main gym at FC. Congratulations once again to the 7th Grade Boys Basketball Team and Coach Hoover. Your Flashes defeated East in the 2nd round of the Marion County Tournament, 37-27, and will advance to this Saturday's quarterfinals at Southport Middle School and face off with the host Cardinals. Tip-off is 9am. Doors open to the public at 8:15am. Go FLASHES! Did you know today is National Fritter Day? Fritters come in a variety flavors and fillings, then are deep-fried. The first fritters were eaten by the ancient Romans.
