It is hard to believe that we have almost reached the end of the 2015 - 2016 school year.  We are now planning for the next school year.  We know that there are going to be a great number of changes this summer before we start back to school on July 27.  If you know that you are going to have a change of address, phone number, or need to modify the information that you have on file, you can now do it online through Infinite Campus.  In order to access this feature you MUST have signed up for access to the parent portal.  If you follow this link:  http://www.ftcsc.k12.in.us/it/32 you will be directed to the IC page.  Once you have access to the portal, please make sure you read the District Announcement Section.

Parents of current 5th grade students:

Immunizations of meningitis and Tdap are needed for the start of 6th grade.  Please call the doctor now to schedule an appointment prior to the start of school so that your student will have the shots that Indiana requires for middle school.  When you have an appointment date and time, please let the elementary school nurse know so that it can be recorded. Requirements are grade level-based, and not dependent on age of students entering 6th grade.  Call now for the best availability of appointments.

Parents of current high school juniors:

Two doses of meningitis are needed for the start of 12th grade.  Please call your student’s doctor now to schedule an appointment prior to the start of school so that your student will have complete shots as designated by the state of Indiana.  Please call the nurse at 803-8304 to advise her about the date and time of appointment.  Students are expected to have the shots at the beginning of the school year.  Call now for best availability of appointments.

Please follow the links to the immunization charts:

The Franklin Township Middle School East World Cultures Club & 6th grade PRIDE classes hosted Japan 'Peace' Fellow sponsored by the National Consortium of Teaching About Asia, Mrs. Lisa Laker, who is also a teacher at Franklin Central High School on September 27. Students learned about Japanese culture and tried their hand at calligraphy, paper crane origami, and Zen meditation during the workshops. Students learned to bow out of respect, and they plan to practice it with their teachers and Principal Huotari! The main message of the workshop was to spread the spirit of peace! FTMS East World Cultures Club is sponsored by Mr. Matt Laker, who wore a Hanshin Tigers jersey and hat to showcase the Japanese love of baseball--just like Mr. Laker!

The senior We the People Government Honors class at Franklin Central was fortunate enough to be invited to the first of three Indiana Gubernatorial debates this year. We attended the event at Lawrence North High School, along with other Indianapolis area high schools. Mr. Tim Sokolowski, Social Studies, received multiple compliments from the Lawrence North administration, Indiana Debate Commission, Indiana State Bar Association, and Indiana Bar Foundation about how the Franklin Central students presented themselves before, during, and after the debate. A few of them were even interviewed by local news stations! The students loved it! It really got them excited for the upcoming election on November 8th, and our upcoming regional competition on November 9th! A great experience for the students, being able to see democracy in action! Pictured below are the 23 students before we took off to see the action!
