Dear Franklin Township Students and Parents,

This is an exciting time in your child’s educational journey and we are excited to share it with them. Among the many great things happening in our classrooms, we are making major advances in the use of technology to help engage our students and provide opportunities otherwise not possible. The district has created an intentional and sustainable plan to provide both the training for our teachers and building staff as well as the hardware and software to support these initiatives and propel our students forward.

Thank you for your interest in trying out for the 2017-2018 Basketball Cheer Team at FTMS East. You will be required to attend both of the following dates; On Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 2:30-4:30pm you will learn the cheer, abbreviated dance, and jumps. You will return on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 3-5pm for the actual tryout. We will meet in the cafeteria. Please allow extra time Friday evening as tryouts may last slightly longer than 5pm (depending on the amount of girls that tryout). You will find out that evening if you have made the squad. These tryouts are for winter boys and girls basketball. This can be a truly rewarding experience, but it also requires a tremendous time commitment. A cheer team member must be willing to practice on her own time and work well with others; as cheerleading is a team sport. We generally practice 1-2 days per week and have games 1-2 days per week. I try to keep the commitments to 3 events per week. I do my best to work with girls on other commitments (dance, competitive cheer, student council, etc) but need the girls to be present. As far as cost goes, we will be attending UCA’s cheer stunt camp at Danville High School on November 18th from 1-4pm. It is required. The total cost for cheerleading is $225 for all new cheerleaders, this covers the shell, liner, skirt, shoes, bow, poms and the stunt clinic. All returning cheerleaders will owe the cost of stunt clinic. A parent meeting for new cheerleaders will be Saturday November 4, 2017 with all fees due at that time. This deadline is strict due to uniform ordering. November 1st and 3rd TRYOUTS November 4th PARENT MEETING ($225 DUE) November 7th and 9th practice from 3-5 November 11th practice 9-11 (tentative) November 14th first game at home Coach Ashley Sesslar Ashleykibbey@att.net

#THANKaPRINCIPAL at Franklin Central IASC Administrator of the Year Award: Principal Kevin Koers The Franklin Central High School Student Council surprised and honored Principal Kevin Koers on his 18 years of service today during October's National Principal's Month! The recognition campaign, called #THANKaPRINCIPAL is sponsored by the National Association of Student Councils. Student Council Co-Presidents, Emily Evans and Carson Whitesell, ended the presentation with a special announcement on behalf of Indiana Association of Student Council Director Rob Zeider: Mr. Koers has been named the IASC ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR!
